In-Yo Cafe offers a laid-back Hawaiian morning retreat tucked in Honolulu, where the emphasis is on thoughtful comfort food and an approachable breakfast environment. It's the kind of place you come to for a slow morning, whether you're settling in with a fresh cup of espresso or craving an assortment of pancakes and fresh fruit to start your day.

The cafe leans into a casual, sunlit vibe, with a terrace that catches pleasant breezes and views of the surrounding neighborhood, making it a natural spot for locals looking to enjoy breakfast outdoors without rushing. The seating encourages lingering, often over hearty portions like their signature silver dollar pancakes served with a variety of syrups or a colorful acai bowl, both reflecting a balancing blend of Hawaiian flavors and classic breakfast fare.

In-Yo’s menu highlights include stuffed French toast and miso soup, bridging familiar island tastes with comfort breakfasts. Their Keiki (children’s) menu shows attention to families, offering mochi pancakes paired with bacon or sausage, a local nod that families appreciate. Coffee options like Kauai Coffee in regular or decaffeinated form complement the dishes, appealing to those who savor Hawaiian-grown beans with rich island character.

Service-wise, the staff tends to be friendly and attentive, aligning with the steady pace of mornings here. While some guests note that food can take a bit to arrive, this feels in tune with the atmosphere of taking time to unwind rather than rush. The location’s affair with refined hotel-style service adds subtle layers of polish, catering well to both locals and visitors seeking familiarity with high standards.

Because of a recent event-related location shift, visitors have enjoyed occasional breakfast with elevated views, which adds to the venue's relaxed charm and underlines its flexibility in hosting without losing the inviting character.

  • Best for: Casual mornings over pancakes, families with children, coffee lovers wanting a peaceful start.
  • Who enjoys it: Neighborhood residents, guests staying nearby, and travelers preferring laid-back Hawaiian breakfast spots.
  • Ideal visit time: Weekday mornings or early weekends when the terrace is quiet and the light is gentle.
  • Atmosphere: Airy, sunlit seating with a balance of easygoing and attentive service; a place to savor breakfast at a leisurely pace.

While I was here, the In-Yo Cafe was located in the space normally associated with Waiolu due to a private event. The different location offered beautiful views of the surrounding area and was perfect for breakfast. I've sampled the buffet, the stuffed French Toast, and the silver dollar buttermilk pancakes. (I made this reservation under the American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts program, which gives $60 credit for breakfast each day; note the buffet is $32 per person.) The food is good, not amazing but more than sufficient for a good meal to start the day. The buffet has some fruit, yogurt, pastries (three kinds including chocolate croissant), fried rice, turkey sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs (the mass produced sort), and one dish that seems to change each day (green eggs and ham, mochi pancakes, etc.). Also two kinds of juice (orange and pineapple.) All in all a very positive experience and an excellent option for a relaxing start to the day!

Beautiful setting and the staff was fantastic. Buffet is $33 and the menu is expensive. So it comes down to where you like to spend your money and how you like to spend. For myself, the money might've been better spent on having an experience rather than bacon. $35 to valet park your car without any option to park it any other way.

Great terrace and ambience. Our breakfast was ordered from the al a carte menu and although it took a little while to come out, it was well worth the wait. Good food, fresh ingredients and friendly staff

Trump Hotel Service never skipped a beat in the detail. We have been to Trump Florida, Virginia, and Las Vegas. Our standard breakfast is an omelet with everything on it, but most restaurants always lack the condiments. Not so at In Yo. We got pico de gallo, verde, red spicy chili. It was the best omelet ever and potatoes. Our experience at Trump brand is the service and the details. They never lack anything we need at the hotel. There should be a Trump standard rating.
